Burger King, famous American global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, has come up with a smart solution of using the subway luggage shelves to create an optical illusion as if burgers are grilled directly in the subway car. You can experience it in South Korea.
Subway rides can be long, monotonous and boring. Commuters are often glued to their handheld devices to kill time without noticing anything around. It’s time to look up and shut down all these displays. Burger King takes you into the world of its juicy flame-grilled burgers!🍔🍔🍔
Just looking at these new tantalizing posters placed on the subway shelves makes your mouth water and you can hardly keep yourself from taking the patty. It can also arouse a desire to get off the train and rush to the nearest Burger King restaurant.
This juicy patty is an optical illusion to tease your stomach. In particular, an entire train has been packed with a series of Burger King posters and riders watch as if patties being grilled on the subway luggage shelves right in front of their eyes. Who can resist this yummy and appetizing burger? Not me, that’s for sure! 😉

Another brilliant example of festive campaign 2016, that I am looking forward to telling you about, is the ‘Bonding Buffet’ hosted by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to bring people together at Christmas. Many thanks to my friend Sabrina, who is also an amazing blogger, for letting me know about this campaign.
The holiday season is the time for joy, celebration and spending time with those we love, but what if you’re alone at the airport?
Airports at Christmas can be very chaotic and crowded as people long to get home for the holidays, but many people spend their transfer time alone – often reading a book, checking their phones, or surfing the web on the airport wi-fito kill time.
So, the airline company KLM decided to do something extraordinary to get people in the Christmas mood and bring them together while waiting for boarding at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Thus, the idea of hosting the ‘Bonding Buffet’ was born.
In particular, KLM, together with Advertising agency DDB & Tribal Amsterdam installed a large table with a Christmas dinner served on top of a 4.5 metre high at the airport. Passengers soon realized what they needed to do to get it down. When all the stools, equipped with a pressure sensor were occupied, the table was fully lowered, so people could start the dinner.
The result is that lots of people of different nationalities bonded with each other over the table had fun and made selfies.

The ad campaign that has grabbed my attention this week is the ‘Van Gogh Bnb,’ a project that was created to arouse people’s interest in the ‘Van Gogh’s Bedrooms,’ a temporary exhibition held at the Art Institute of Chicago in collaboration with Airbnb! This campaign has won four Golds at the 2016 CLIO Awards and three Golden Lions at the 63rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity! Not bad, isn’t it? Let’s see it in action.
Vincent van Gogh’s ‘The Bedroom’, or ‘Bedroom in Arles’ is considered to be one of the most famous paintings in the world. There are 3 versions of ‘The Bedroom,’ created by the artist from 1888 to 1889, hang in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Paris’s Musée d’Orsay and Chicago’s Art Institute. The ‘Van Gogh’s Bedrooms’ exhibition in Chicago reunites all these three versions for the first time in North America.
The Art Institute of Chicago in partnership with the agency Leo Burnett and AirBnb, recreated the painting. What is more, instead of just looking at the painting, people were invited to spend a night inside Van Gogh’s room to get closer to the artist! We can read from the listing on the website that ‘this room will make you feel like you’re living in a painting. It’s decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colors, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.’
Well, they didn’t stop there. The most incredible thing I’ve ever heard was that the room was hosted by Van Gogh himself and rented to everyone onAirbnb at a price as much as $10 with explanation ’I’m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint. However, I will be happy to provide you with tickets to my exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago.’ Smart move, isnt’it?
People were thrilled! The first block of nights were sold out in 5 minutes after the project was launched. Withing one week the story had been covered by media in over 100 countries. The ‘Van Gogh’s Bedrooms’ exhibition online tickets sale up 250% and it was the highest attend exhibit in 15 years!
Futhermore, for “Van Gogh BnB,” project Leo Burnett Chicago got a lot of awards: six Cannes Lions, including one Gold Lion and two Silver Lions in Direct, and two Gold Lions and one Silver Lion in Promo & Activation at the 63rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity that was held in June.
In addition, the agency has also won six Clios: four golds in the Brand Design, Out of Home, Branded Entertainment and Engagement/Experiential categories and silver in the Public Relations category and bronze in Direct. The campaign had a great success!
The famous tech brand Microsoft has developed a genius way to draw people’s attention to their posture. A real time posture scanner was the great solution! You can see it in Stockholm!
The more mobile we get the more we tend to carry. The fact is that we carry too many devices, such as large and heavy laptops on a daily basis and we also carry them wrong that leads then to back pain and sore necks. It is an increasing problem, it might be called an endemic disease.
That’s why in the down town business district of Stockholm Microsoft with agency JWM have recently installed a digital billboardwith a real-time posture scanner and a Kinect camera which automatically analisys and correct people’s posture. The initiative was to make people stop and think, and gave them tips and tricks on how to carry their bags right and light. As an alternative option you can replace your laptop with Microsoft Surface pro 4 – a powerful laptop and a tablet in one versatile device, weighting less than 800 grams.

The skincare brand Nivea has recently come up with a genius idea to protect children from the sun’s harmful UV rays by creating the SunSlide – an entertaining way to apply sunblock!
With summer in full swing we spend a lot of time outside enjoying good weather and the sunshine, going to the beach and lounging by the pool. However, it is important to be aware how to enjoy sunshine safely and remember that too much exposure to sunlight is harmful as it can cause sunburn, skin and eye damage, and lead to skin cancer in later life.
Research shows that kids are the most vulnerable as they have more delicate and sensitive skin than adults, so their risk of getting sunburnt is much higher. Parents need to be more concerned about their kids health and apply sun protection on their skin regularly. As we all know, getting kids to wear sunscreen is easier said than done. As soon as they arrive at the beach and see the water the last thing they want to do is wait for their sunscreen to be applied.
That’s why Nivea with agency FCB Cape Town have created the SunSlide – a water slide that sprays SPF 50 + waterproof sunscreen on the kids as they go down it. According to Nivea, one slide is all it takes to cover over 100 kids per hour!
Moreover, Nivea took good care of the kids. They were given goggles to prevent the sunscreen from spreading into their eyes.
The SunSlide was launched on Camps Bay, South Africa’s most popular beach because, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, South Africa has the world’s highest rate of skin cancer.
I think it is a great initiative to help combat with skin cancer, isn’t it? 😉
Samsonite, one of the most well-known travel luggage brand, created its new advertising campaign with a clear message – travel across the globe!
While travelling by plane you might face unpleasant situation with your luggage. It’s not a secret that lost, misplaced or damaged luggage can easily ruin your vacation. That’s why the luggage wrapping service at the airport is so successful. People who have once lost their confidence to get their luggage safe after arriving at their destination often use a plastic wrapping protection service before checking in.
So Samsonite, known for making the strongest, lightest and more secure luggage in the world, has recently launched its newest Ambient Marketing campaign with the help of its new luggage service – Samso’Wrap.
Taking this into account, Samsonite by partnering with ad agency Publicis Conseil, have created a genius way to promote its travel products. They decided to offer this useful service to people who aren’t Samsonite clients – absolutely for free! But on one condition: passengers had to permit to paste stickers with a message ‘I wish I had a Samsonite’ on their bags.
No wonder, many people agreed to get this free service and almost 1,200 bags were wrapped spreading Samsonite message to more than 120 destinations around the world! It was a win win situation! 🙂

People were invited to take part in the training session and do step-ups, push-ups, squats and more with professional trainers support. Seems genius!
This initiative is a part of Reebok ‘The Gym is Everywhere’ campaign that outdoor workouts can be also effective and fun. All you need is an inspiration to keep fit. Work out whenever you want! The gym is everywhere!
I think most of you know very little about your neighbours. Sometimes we rarely say ‘Hello’ and don’t even know their names. People prefer to gaze at their smartphones rather than talk to each other. Everyone is concerned about their own life. And thus, the idea of ‘The Nextdoor Hello’ was born! It all starts with a Nescafé!

A famous coffee brand has recently launched ‘The Nextdoor Hello,’ a social experiment, developed by the advertising agency Publicis Italy, to encourage people to ‘get closer to those close to you’ – your neighbours.
The main participants of the experiment were not feeling suspicious residents of one of the apartment block in Milan. The idea is as follows: during the night coffee tables were installed on the balconies. When residents came out on their balconies next morning, they were amazed to see two red mugs, a jar of Nescafé and a pot filled with hot water on the table waiting for themto drink.
As we know well, the best conversations often happen over a cup of coffee! Not thinking twice, people start chatting and even making selfies!
This campaign proved that coffee is more than just a drink. Sometimes all we need to do is take the first step to bring people closer together.

Another great ambient marketing campaign that aroused my interest was held a few weeks ago in New York by the Greater Palm Springs and JetBlue to promote JetBlue airline’s new non-stop service from NYC to Palm Springs, California, and to help New Yorkers find their warm summer oasis! It’s commonly known that people love challenges and win prizes. Without thinking twice the Greater Palm Springs Convention&Visitors Bureau and Jet Blue gave people such opportunity! By partnering with agency Ignited, USA, New Yorkers were invited to partecipate in an ‘Ice block challenge.’
Huge blocks of ice were set up in the centre of New York to challenge passers-by to break the ice of the chill and get to the warm sunny oasis. In order to make this initiative more alluring, a range of summer items, such as flip flops, tennis racquets and so on, was frozen in these blocks of ice. JetBlue airline tickets to Palm Springs with accomodation were the main prize as it was said on Ignited’s website. Isn’t it cool? 😉
