Students wanted. No experience needed!
This is a tagline of the new killer ad campaign ‘McMistakes’ by the Belgian branch of the McDonald’s fast food chain to motivate students to start their career path and earn some extra cash at on of the most recognizable companies in the world even if they have no prior work experience. All they need is a burning desire and willingness to learn new skills. Amazing, isn’t it?
Entitled ‘McMistakes,’ a series of print ads created by TBWA Belgium was placed at Belgian McDonald’s restaurants that call upon students for job openings. At first sight there is nothing unusual in the ads, you can see typical McDonald’s iconic products offerings but it’s not as it seems.
If you look more closely, you’ll notice certain shocking mismatches such as tasty French fries inside of a McFlurry ice cream cup, a saucy mouthwatering BigMac burger got fit into the fries and a creamy, sweet McDonald’s McFlurry ended up in the classical BigMac box. Moreover, all the ads are accompanied with the tagline, ‘Students wanted. No experience needed.’ They are unlikely to have made such obvious mistakes, there is always a reason behind everything!
In this ingenious ‘McMistakes’ campaign McDonald’s aimed to show off the young employees that messing up might not be as terrible as they think. Everyone makes mistakes and that’s OK, nobody is perfect. Mistakes are inevitable and they are a part of the process of growth and development to get that much-needed experience that helps you succeed in the future.
As Albert Einstein once said ‘Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new!‘ 😉
